Has Dweezil Ever Talked About Recording with Frank’s Original Band Members?

Hey everyone, longtime fan here! I've always been curious—has Dweezil ever discussed the possibility of recording original material or even reinterpreting Frank's music with surviving members of the original Mothers of Invention or other collaborators from Frank’s era?

I know he's been super respectful of his dad’s legacy, especially with Zappa Plays Zappa, but I was wondering if there’s ever been any talk (or maybe an interview I missed) where he’s considered working directly with Frank’s old bandmates, either in studio or live.

Would love to hear your thoughts or links if this has come up before!

Thanks!

That’s such a cool idea — a studio session or tour with the OG Mothers lineup and Dweezil would be a dream for fans. I haven’t seen him mention that directly, but now I’m hoping someone brings it up in a future interview. All this Zappa talk’s got my brain spinning like a vintage solo… time to reset with a few rounds of Speed Stars Unblocked. It’s got rhythm, timing, and just the right kind of challenge — almost like drumming, but sprinting!

Great question! I’ve wondered the same—especially with so many brilliant musicians still around from Frank’s era. Would be amazing to hear Dweezil blend his style with theirs in something original. If anyone has interview links, drop them here!
