Lyft App Charged Me for a Canceled Ride

Booked a Lyft ride but had to cancel it shortly after when the ETA jumped unexpectedly. I was surprised to see a charge still show up on my account. Is this a temporary hold, or does Lyft charge even if the driver hasn’t arrived yet?

I once canceled a Lyft trip because the ETA had unexpectedly increased and was a little worried about being charged. But it turned out to be just a temporary hold, and a few days later it was fully refunded. While waiting for it to be processed, I opened Sprunki Retake to ease my anxiety, and it was a real lifesaver!

I had a similar experience – I booked a car and saw that the ETA had jumped so I had to cancel. Luckily, the fee was just a temporary hold and was refunded a few days later. While waiting, I played Sprunki Retake to relieve my frustration and unexpectedly beat my personal record!

Check your Lyft app: Go to your ride history and see the status of the cancelled ride. It should indicate PolyTrack if a cancellation fee was applied.

Thanks, I was unsure about that part, and your comment gave me some clarity.

Used Lyft to get to an appointment and canceled just a few minutes after booking when the estimated arrival time doubled. Later, I noticed a charge on my card, which caught me off guard. I looked through https://lyft.pissedconsumer.com/customer-service.html to understand how their cancellation policy works. Turns out, if a driver is already en route, a small cancellation fee can apply depending on timing and location. In my case, it was just a temporary hold that disappeared after a day. Good to know for future rides—timing really matters with their fee structure.
